Today at the” Cybersecurity for a New America” conference, Admiral Mike Rogers, NSA director, stated he wanted backdoors in crypto systems.
“It needs to be done within a framework”, Roger said.
When Alex Stamos, CISO for Yahoo, told him that it was not possible to build secure backdoors, NSA director answered “I have got a lot of world-class cryptographers at the National Security Agency”.
However Rogers does not want the word backdoor to be used, “backdoor is not the context I would use. When I hear the phrase “backdoor”, I think, well, this is kind of shady. Why would you want to go in the backdoor” ?
